5 YEARS OF PROSTHETICS

Return to Main Diabetes Index

This is a collection of legs and feet over a 5 year period. Due to the fact the I am what is considered "High Activity Amputee" the sizes of my residual limbs change frequently. This results in frequent re-fittings and healing processes to get used to each new prosthetic.

Below, the foot at the extreme left is a "Starter" foot, no frills just a solid rubber foot with a metal substructure. The "foot" next to it is only a shell that goes over some of the more advanced "feet" like the all black carbon fiber foot seen fourth from the left.

The bottom row of feet are the carbon fiber single layer and the solid foot with the "flexible" ankle. The two in the last photo are multiple layer carbon fiber, and allow more spring in your step when using. These allow a more natural "feel" as prosthetic feet go. The foot at the bottom is the BioQuest foot, of which I presently wear two of. These are the best I have had to date, and am quite pleased with the performance. As with any "addition" to your body, all things need to be gotten used to, and it is worth the time to break them in.

If you have any questions about my condition, prosthetics and the use of them,

I would like to hear from you.
